Yesterday’s election results confirmed a critical truth: our democracy and hard-fought rights are under attack. With Donald Trump poised to assume the presidency again, many of us are rightfully concerned about an agenda that threatens to roll back progress, deepen divisions, and incite hate, perhaps even to the point of violence. Many of us fear that the next administration will be a platform for hate, pitting people and communities against one another.
But let me be clear—our organization is ready for this moment, and we will fight back with everything we have. We need you with us.
In this moment, our work defending democracy, fighting for diversity and inclusion, and standing up to hate has never been more urgent. The incoming administration will likely attempt to dismantle the very systems that protect our right to vote, our ability to live in safety, and our right to an equitable future. We will not allow it.
Many think of progress as linear. It is not. If history teaches us anything, it exhibits cycles of reform and retrenchment – especially when it comes to civil rights and racial justice.
As we continue to stand at the front lines of the fight for racial justice, we are prepared to:
- Defend democracy and protect the right to vote by challenging any attempts to suppress the voices of communities of color;
- Protect and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, in the workplace, in economic systems, and beyond;
- Attack and dismantle structural racism both in government policies and in private sector practices;
- Combat white supremacist rhetoric and violence by holding those who incite and commit acts of hate accountable in the courts.
Our mission is clear: we will fight back at every turn, in the courts, in the streets, and in every community where justice is at risk. But we cannot do it without you.
Now more than ever, we need the support of committed partners like you to defend the values we share. Together, we will resist any effort to dismantle our democracy. Together, we can help ensure that equality and justice are more than just ideals, but rather the lived reality for all people, regardless of race, gender, or identity.
Stand with us today, and together, we will protect the future we deserve.
In Solidarity,
Damon T. Hewitt
