Emily Chong*

Counsel

Emily Chong is Counsel for the Economic Justice Project at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under Law. Before joining the Lawyers’ Committee, Emily was a staff attorney at First Shift Justice Project, where she focused on workplace justice issues such as pregnancy discrimination, paid family leave appeals, and FMLA discrimination. Prior to that, Emily worked in the housing discrimination realm as an Equal Justice Works Fellow and then staff attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services Program, where she engaged in litigation, advocacy, and outreach on issues such as source of income discrimination and violations of the Fair Criminal Record Screening for Housing Act.

She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a Georgetown Law Center Scholar and Public Interest Fellow. At Georgetown Law, she served as the Executive Editor of the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy, a student attorney in the Civil Rights Clinic, and the President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Political Science from Vanderbilt University.

Emily is from Charleston, South Carolina. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for the Asian Pacific American Bar Association Educational Fund.
