February 28, 2006 | Download
The National Commission on the Voting Rights Act was established by the Lawyer’s Committee to determine whether vote discrimination has continued since the Act’s last major reauthorization in 1982. To this end, the Commission held ten hearings across the nation from March through October 2005, at which more than 100 witnesses spoke. This report presents the findings from testimony at these hearings, as well as documents and information obtained from governmental, legal, media, and scholarly sources.
