WASHINGTON, D.C., February 2, 2015—On February 5thand 6th, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the U.S. and Overseas Vote Foundation and FairVote will host the Ninth Annual Voting and Elections Summit. This exciting two-day Summit will encompass a variety of formats, including fast-paced interviews, deep discussion roundtables, and hands-on workshops, each designed to help participants examine and address election-related issues.

During the first day, attendees will gain broad exposure not just to the issues plaguing our election system, but also to the change-makers and existing projects in place to untangle them. This conference will feature keynotes from Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison and Vice President of Progress 2050 Vanessa Càrdenas followed by plenary sessions on topics ranging from tech innovation to engagement strategies. The second day, attendees will be invited to delve further into voting and election issues through interactive workshops. Facilitators will build on lessons from previous discussions while promoting collaborative brainstorming that gives participants the opportunity to utilize a shared economy of ideas.

The 2014 midterm election had the lowest turnout since 1942, with more than 144 million eligible voters not exercising their right to vote.  The 2015 Summit will provide the opportunity to immerse participants in a community of experts and advocates working together to examine the profound issues we face in 2016, and the chance to walk away with tools and strategies to move your work forward.
