Toll-Free Hotline (1-866-OUR-VOTE) Live Assistance on Election Day
Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, November 3rd, Virginians will head to the polls to cast their ballots for state and municipal elections. Election Protection – the nation’s largest nonpartisan voter protection coalition led by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law – is making sure that all eligible voters in Virginia have an equal opportunity to vote. The 1-866-OUR-VOTE hotline will be answered live on Election Day from 6:00 AM-9:00 PM EST. Election Protection volunteers will also be available to help at the polls at select precincts around the Northern Virginia area. By calling 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683), any voter who has questions or is experiencing problems casting their ballot will get direct assistance.
Reminders for Virginia Voters:
- Verify your registration status ahead of Election Day. Voter registration closed for the election on October 13.
- Apply for an absentee ballot by October 27 by mail, or October 31 in person.
- Confirm your polling location, even if it has been in the same place for years.
- Bring required ID and know your rights regarding required identification. If you do not have the proper photo ID at the polls, you are allowed to cast a provisional ballot.
Election Protection’s toll-free hotlines, 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683) for English and 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (1-888-839-8682) for bilingual assistance (English/Spanish) are available to any voter who needs information, assistance or guidance in understanding their rights.
The Hotline is available to assist voters year-round. Voters will sometimes be directed to voicemail, and their call will be returned in one-to-two business days.
Election Protection is also providing assistance to voters at the polls in Northern Virginia. In addition, voters can access the Election Protection website, www.886OurVote.org, for information about voting procedures.
