Problems with voting? Call the Election Protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE.

(Washington, D.C.) – Legal volunteers staffing the nonpartisan Election Protection 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) hotline are available to answer calls from Georgia voters who need help requesting an absentee ballot or locating their polling place for early voting for the Jan. 5, 2021 Senate runoffs. The hotline has already helped thousands of Georgia voters since Dec. 1, 2020.

On Monday, Dec. 14, Georgia voters can begin participating in early voting for the U.S. Senate runoffs. The hotline will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST Monday through Friday. The hotline is a resource for Georgia voters and would-be voters to help with any questions they have about requesting an absentee ballot, finding their early voting location, confirming their Election Day polling location and to report any problems they encounter when voting. Voters can request an absentee ballot for the U.S. Senate runoff race now.

The following suite of hotlines are available to voters:

  • 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) – English hotline
  • 888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682) – Spanish/English
  • 844-YALLA-US (844-925-5287) – Arabic/English hotline
  • 888-API-VOTE (888-274-8683) – Bengali, Cantonese, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Tagalog, Urdu and Vietnamese hotline

The Election Protection hotline is especially crucial during the Senate runoffs following the decision of Georgia election officials to shut down early voting sites in Cobb County, Chatham County, Forsyth County and Hall County. The closures of these early voting sites are particularly harmful to Black and Latinx voters because many of these areas have a high concentration of Black Americans and other minorities.

“The 866-OUR-VOTE Election Protection hotline is a resource for all eligible voters in Georgia who seek to participate in the runoff elections. We are particularly focused on ensuring that voters impacted by the pandemic are aware of absentee-balloting and in-person early voting opportunities, and can cast their ballot without any issues,” said Marcia Johnson-Blanco, co-director of the Voting Rights Project at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. “Election Protection stands ready to help ensure that every Georgia voter has the opportunity to exercise the fundamental right to vote.”

Election Protection is the nation’s largest and longest-running nonpartisan voter protection coalition. The Election Protection coalition, led by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, also carries out its work through voter education, advocacy, poll monitors and rapid response litigation.
